Review of Energy Costs Says Prices Too High

Independent review says energy costs are too high, power contracts see mixed movements

Dieter Helm took over our news-feeds last week, with his independent Cost of Energy Review. One of his key findings was that energy costs are significantly higher than is necessary to meet climate targets, and Helm largely blames this on the government’s intervention in energy policy – neither points come as a surprise! And as always, we report on the wholesale market, with prices experiencing mixed movements last week. Brent crude oil made the headlines with its highest price since July 2015.
