Renewables Surge, Power and Gas Diverge

Most power contracts decrease, whilst gas prices climb. Renewables hit a new high.

Power contracts decreased in the energy market last week, with gas contracts moving in the opposite direction. We don’t often see this happen, as the UK relies heavily on gas. So, what caused it? Renewable energy, or wind generation to be precise. In fact, renewables and low-carbon generation reached record highs last week! In other good news for green energy, Clayhill solar farm is officially open. It’s the first solar generation asset in Great Britain that wasn’t subsidised by consumers’ energy bills.
